The Miners Hymns screening

A great screening of The Miners Hymns last night – despite the weather about 30 people turned out for the film, including a number of former miners. The main feature was preceded by short documentaries by Richard Searle and Kay Phillips (of the Handmade Film Festival), about the Agecroft Memorial unveiling and the 2013 Durham Miners Gala.

Cheers again to Forma for organising the tour of THE MINERS HYMNS – you’ll be able to catch it at the Cornerhouse either later in the year or early in 2014.

It was the first in a series of mining related events this month – next up is drama THE HAPPY LANDS on Friday 25th October, and a fundraising event on the 26th for a memorial for miners of Bradford Pit (details here)
